First Fill Oloroso Cask 001/ Dist: July 2017 Btl 2020/ Tasted: July 2021

A crisp, fragrant, granity and very lime accented nose. Hints of tamarind, rose petal marc and minerals, The sherry displays a boiled sweet-like character along with adding a touch of clove oil, cinnamon and ginger.

The palate opens with the youthful, rose petal marc spirit with lime, minerals, ginger and almost Oriental spice. Again boiled sweets sherry with a touch of clove and spice. Masked, short, slightly peppery finish with lingering rose petal marc and sweet barley.

Water makes the nose woodier and maltier with some almost STR cask chocolaty notes. The palate however is fresher and stonier. Like the nose there is a faint chocolaty note but there’s more emphasis on the oily rose petal marc spirit. Still short but peppery finish. Overall it shows promise but at this age its hard to get a grip on exactly how it’s going to pan out.
