Karlssons Gold Vodka 40%

Created by Börje Karlsson, the Swedish master blender behind Absolut. Single distilled from virgin Swedish potatoes (Solist, Gammel, Svensk Rod, Princess, Sankta Thora, Hamlet, marine and Celine).

Tasted: Dec 2015

A pungent and oily nose with a distinct starchy character. Quite fleshy with hints of vanilla.

The palate balances freshness and oiliness. Sweet-ish with again a distinct starchy character and hint of vanilla. Long and crisp with a slight graininess and hints of almost dried fruit. Very characterful.

Purity Vodka 40%

Produced from Swedish organic winter wheat and barley. Distilled in an 158 US Gallon pot still.

Tasted: Oct 2012

A full and creamy nose, with a lovely, grainy bite. For a spirit that was apparently distilled 34 times it has a surprising degree of character, mind, being unfiltered has not removed the slightly wheaty and vanillery notes.

The palate is soft and almost icy clean to begin with. As it warms it becomes wonderfully creamy and vanilla’d. Quite oily and full bodied with a pleasant grainy bite. Good length with a long, creamy, slightly salty finish.

Purity Vodka 40%

Re-Tasted: Nov/Dec 2013

Full and quite pungent on the nsoe with an oily rye-like character plus hints of earth, spice and vanilla. There are plenty of congeners on this nose!

The palate is full and lightly creamy with sweet cereal, vanilla and earth. Very natural but smooth with a developing perfumed note. Lovely length with a grainy spice and citrus finish. Very impressive with loads of character.

Purity Vodka 40%

Re-Tasted: Dec 2014

Nose: A good, intense nose of burnt wood and what feels like some dark rye notes. Lightly oiled with a refreshing, if slightly over perfumed edge.

Palate: Soft and vanilla’d. In fact the vanilla note is a little too dominating as it blankets any other character.

Finish: Good length with a lightly oiled, peppery finish.

Conclusion: Lovely nose and finish. It’s the bit in-between that was a let down!

Absolut Blue 40%

Tasted: May 2005

A clean, slightly heavier, oilier nose (than the Smirnoff blue). Dry on the palate, medium bodied with a creamy mouthfeel, Quite oily with a long, simple, balanced grainy finish. Less complex than the Smirnoff blue but with more character.
