Chateau Lacaze Armagnac 1982 (31 year old) 40%

Tasted: Nov 2014

Pungent and grapey with an almost rich, sweet, sherry cask note. Luscious and nutty with a lovely sweet, rasinated rancio laing with dusty spice, stewed fruit, coffee, nutty treacle, black tea, molasses, dark honey and fragrant incense.

The palate is soft and nutty. Wonderfully full with a delicate, lightly sweetened oxidised rancio. Slightly bitter coffery grains, dark chocolate and herbs mingle with treacle and molasses. A lightly piquant middle freshens and allows the light marzipan oak, walnut cream and toffee notes to come through in the finish. A little tannic but its intertwined with dry liquorice and wood spice. Very impressive.
