Viche Pitia Classic 40%

Dark Rye Bread

Tasted: Dec 2014

Nose: Pungent and straw-like aromas. Raw and a little green with quite a heavy buscuity/ shredded wheat note.

Palate: Light and oily with hints of buscuits, nuts and a touch of camomile?

Finish: Medium length with the buscuity notes lingering?

Conclusion: A good spirit but the flavouring was far too subtle for the ‘flavoured’ category. Mind is the world ready for Shredded Wheat flavoured vodka? – Maybe! (Actually it was Dark Rye Bread)

Viche Pitia Caraway 58%

Tasted: Dec 2013

Nose: Quite creamy and intense, liquorice and aniseed with hints of herbs and a touch of citrus.

Palate: Smooth and sweet. A little earthy to begin with followed by liquorice and aniseed. Slightly toasty with a touch of citrus.

Finish: Long and very intense. Quite an alcohol hit with lingering herbal aniseed.

Conclusion: Intense!

Viche Pitia Caraway 58%

Re-Tasted: Jan 2014

Nose: Pungent aromas of aniseed, fennel, smoky spice and absinth-like notes

Palate: Quite light with aniseed, herbs and building bitter spice.

Finish: Good length with a pleasant bitter/ sweet balance.

Conclusion:. Pleasant enough.

Viche Pitia Carraway 58%

Re-Tasted: Dec 2014

Nose: A distinct nose of caraway/ aniseed. A little soapy but very little ‘spirit character’.

Palate: Oily and relatively sweet with liquorice, caraway and aniseed.

Finish: Very spicy with a definite alcohol bite!

Conclusion: No mistaking the flavouring here!

Viche Pitia Lemon & Milk 43%

Tasted: Dec 2013

Nose: Sherbet lemon with clotted cream and hints of grass.

Palate: Soft and a little watery with sherbet lemon and hints of cream.

Finish: Good length with the zingy lemon lingering.

Conclusion: Pleasant enough.

Viche Pitia Lemon & Milk 43%

Re-Tasted: Jan 2014

Nose: Quite perfumed but some crisp lemon/ lime notes cut through the honeyed sweetness which is reminiscent of Lockets cough sweets.

Palate: Soft, straightforward palate which is quite full and fruity – lemon!

Finish: Good, length with the Locket notes returning.

Conclusion: Pleasant enough..

Equissolis French Organic Vintage Vodka 2012 40%

Organic Winter Wheat

Tasted: Oct 2014

Nose: Quite smoky but relatively neutral. Pleasantly earthy and with time the aromas become a little floral.

Palate: Again quite neutral with hints of smoke and creamy spirit.

Finish: Medium length and softly spiced, which does bitter a little at the end.

Conclusion: Pleasant if a little simple.

Grey Goose Tasting Notes

Posted: April 17, 2014 in French, Vodka

Grey Goose 40%

Tasted: Oct 2005

Youthful aromas of grain spirit with a citrus twist. A reasonable intensity of grainy citrus but it’s a bit simple, and that’s about it.
