Duncan Taylor Glenburgie Tasting Notes

Duncan Taylor Octave Glenburgie 1985 (27 year old) 55.7%

Cask 943675/ Tasted: Sept 2015

The nose is taught, herbal, spicy and coffee’d aromas which display an almost astringent rye-like character. Quite youthful and edgy with a touch of vanilla softening.

The palate is as taught and herbal as the nose! A veritable mouthful of first fill Oloroso – dark treacle, chocolate and rather drying combination of alcohol and tannins. Ooh this is a bit of a brut! Intense and mouth-watering finish with a good smoky and spicy finish. In conclusion: A very clean, unblemished, herbal sherry monster. Completely lacking in subtlety for me, but this style of whisky has its adherents!
